My Amia Super Model

My sweet friend Heather is the uber-talented designer behind My Amia Boutique, a clothing line for children and toddlers.  I’ve often had the privilege of photographing her collections and my daughter gets to be a super model!

A Dult.

Josh: “I can’t wait ’til I’m a dult.  Then I will take my money and buy a doughnut if I want one."

Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge

Several months ago, I started noticing that many of my Facebook friends from my hometown were all getting involved in something called the Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge.  I didn’t think much of it at first but the more I saw about it, the more intrigued I became.  Especially when they all started posting the results for their challenge.

What is it?

The Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge is a health and weight loss challenge using meal replacement shakes by a company called Visalus.  My question was, what was so special about these shakes and who the heck or what the heck is Visalus?

After some internet research and some asking around of the people who were on the challenge, I discovered that Visalus is a reputable, 7 year old company with patented health and fitness products and they are currently taking over the world.

At this point I decided that I would look into starting the challenge.  I have some baby weight I would love to drop and because I live on fruit snacks and Taco Bell, the idea of replacing one meal a day with a delicious, healthy shake sounded like something I could should try.

So I joined the challenge, took my measurements and my before pictures and started drinking a shake every day for lunch.  First let me just put your curiosity at rest, the shakes are SO YUMMY.  There are literally hundreds of recipes to try and I’ve only just begun to sample them.

The weight loss challenge is to replace two meals a day for 90 days. Because I was still a little skeptical (taste?), I ordered the one shake per day kit just for nutritional purposes.  I’ve been on the challenge for 27 days now and I’ve lost 5 pounds in the past 9 days (I didn’t weigh myself at the beginning because I didn’t have a scale) and all of my pants are loose.

Every week I post a little update on my facebook page and every week more and more of my friends sign up for the challenge too!  One neat aspect is that if you refer 3 friends, you get your next month free.  Not only is free product a good incentive, but having your friends on the challenge with you helps motivate and encourage you to keep at it!

My husband decided to go on the challenge too, but he’s replacing two meals a day.  He has lost almost 15 pounds in two weeks but he’s also doing a lot of other things to lose weight so his results are a little more drastic than what they probably would be under normal circumstances.

I’m so pumped about the results I’m seeing with my friends and family that I actually signed up to be a distributor.  I’ve already made half my investment back just from posting little blurbs on Facebook.

I’m excited for healthiness and the possibility of making a little cash as well.  We’ll see where it goes!

Want more information on joining the challenge and getting healthy?  Or maybe making some moolah while you’re at it?  My friend just won a BMW after being a distributor for FOUR MONTHS!  Click the link to watch a short informational video and then sign up!

Coloring Easter Eggs

Dying Easter Eggs is one of those super fun required Easter activities that absolutely despise.  Every year I leave Grandma Diana in charge because she seems to enjoy it and I don’t.  Last year we were able set up on the back porch but we’ve still got several feet of snow out there this year, so inside it is.  Even better.

The kids are getting better at this task as they get older, so my stress level is much lower.  That doesn’t mean I love it though.  But the kids sure do!

The 3rd Annual Powers Staycation

Every year, on the Thursday before Easter, we kick off our annual Powers Family Staycation.  We do something fun in the afternoon, head to a local hotel and swim all evening and the next morning.

With our record 133 inches of snowfall starting to melt, the cars almost invisible.  So we started our adventures with a much needed car wash!

Adventure number 2...bowling!

I am not awesome at bowling.

He got the spare!

Missed!  Darn!

We aren’t much of a bowling family.  Jaycob beat me soundly.

At the hotel and ready to swim!

This year, the pool was FREEZING.  I never got in it.

Time to warm up in the hot tub for a bit.  So warm!

One of the reasons we choose this hotel is because it offers complimentary dinner on weeknights, as well as breakfast in the morning.

After dinner we do some activities in the room until it is time to swim again.

After swimming is done for the night, we have ice cream sundaes!

The next morning we woke up, ate breakfast and swam AGAIN before heading off to McDonalds for some play land fun and lunch.  We arrived home in the early afternoon and promptly fell asleep.  Well, Darrin, Joshy and I did anyway.  Not sure what happened to the other two.
