Kid Choir Cuteness

This past Sunday evening, my kids sang in church for a preview of their Spring concert coming up....sometime. This was Josh’s first ever on-stage performance and he concentrated SO HARD that he forgot to sing. Pretty good arm movements though. We lucked out and sat directly in front of him and Jordan but Jake was WAY down on the other end. He made it into a few pics and videos though.

JAM League is OVER

Our JAM League season ended this weekend with a reeeeally long day of basketball. We started at 10am with our first game of the day. Because the Clone Troopers were ranked #1 for the tournament, we played the first game of the day against the last place team. Needless to say, the score was pretty spread out. Every single player on our team made at least one basket, including Jake. He played his usual intense defensive game, fouled some people and scrapped on the floor for some jump balls. He brought the ball down court at one point during the game and while his team set some awesome screens for him (mostly unintentional, but still...) he dribbled straight for the basket and just as he was about to stop and shoot, he dribbled the ball off his own foot and it skittered out of bounds. The entire gym went, “AAAAWWWWW!!!!” Because everyone roots for the little guy.

The second game was a little tougher but we still won handily. The third game however...well, when you are used to being ahead by at least 10 after the first quarter and suddenly you find yourself in a situation where you haven’t even managed to score one basket by the end of the first quarter...let’s just say, it was too much to handle after a really long day and lots of basketball games.

We lost the championship game by 8 points (20-28). They were very sad but mostly really tired. So we had a party.

I found Clone Trooper masks at the party store

Each of our kids received a personalized trophy with their name and number, as well as a participation trophy from the league.

We got our head coach this super duper trophy. All the kids names were engraved on the back.

Jake with his awards.

The Clone Troopers!!

The whole season was an awesome experience. It was exciting and hilarious to watch Jake’s progression from the first game where he ran back and forth as fast as he could but not much else, to becoming the scrappy little defensive champion that he was towards the end of the season. So proud of our little nugget. And so happy that he loves basketball!

Love it when my babies play sweet together. And by sweet I mean gnarly gun battle.

What a DAY!

I feel like I’m going to throw up.

That’s how you end a truly wonderful day. No seriously. Best day in a long time.

Not only did Jaycob NOT get in trouble at school today (it’s been a rough week), and not only did I get to photograph a perfect little newborn during a perfect photo shoot, and not only did Jordan get a clean bill of health at the doctor in spite of the weird lump on her neck (swollen lymph node), but my awesome husband who has been coaching a basketball team full of freshman during his first season as the girls’ varsity head coach, just won the region championship about ten minutes ago. I listened on the radio. The game went into over time. I almost threw up. It was a good day.

Longest run-on sentence ever? ^^

I’m beyond caring.

Because It Made Me Laugh.

Doobie has been decorating again.

Never Say Never

Every Monday night, my friends and I go out to a movie. Roughly two thirds of the movies we see are worthless, boring, stupid and/or a complete waste of time. It goes without saying in our group, that it doesn’t matter if the movie looks dumb, chances are that it will be, but the point of movie madness night is getting out of the house and hanging with each other.

Which is why, despite my complete and utter not-wanting-ness, I found myself seated between my besties, 3D glasses perched upon my nose, preparing to watch the newest teeny bopper sensation in his documentary style movie debut. That’s right. We saw Justin Bieber in Never Say Never. In 3D.

Now, I’d heard of Justin before. Saw him on Saturday Night Live last week in fact. But I couldn’t tell you what songs he sang or where he came from. Being cynical as I often am, I took a moment to wax philosophical to my ladies about the chances of this kid (who is described as a good, moral, inspiring Christian boy who is just out there to make people happy) NOT being in rehab for something within the next three years.

Britney made me jaded.

So the movie begins and it’s home video footage of the cutest little nugget you have ever seen in your life talking in his precious little three year old boy voice about wanting to be a crossing guard when he grows up. Then he starts drumming on a chair. I mean, drumming with rhythm.

Some things about me. I ADORE cute little boys (because I have two of them) and I ADORE drummers. I think you can see where this is going.

Two hours (or so) later I’m sitting in the theater, wanting to stick Justin Bieber in my pocket so I can carry him around and keep him safe from crazy people and make sure he eats lots of fruits and vegetables. I actually prayed, PRAYED that he would be protected from the inevitable. That he wouldn’t get sucked into the maelstrom of fame and excess.

I think today is his birthday and he turned 17. And he’s still just the cutest, sweetest little nugget I’ve ever seen and I still want to stick him in my pocket.
