Birthday Party

Little known fact about me...I despise throwing parties.  Kid birthday parties in particular.  I think it has something to do with the PRESSURE but I’m not sure and don’t really feel like analyzing it right now.

Last year, Jordan begged for a party.  I half-heartedly tossed around ideas for throwing one and then one day we were at Target.  Jordan saw a lady bug Pillow Pet.  She wanted it really bad.  “Hey Jordy, I’ll buy you that Pillow Pet instead of having a birthday party.....?”

She agreed without hesitation.

But this year she was on to me.  She begged for a party again and even tossed in a disclaimer, “but I don’t want you to buy me a toy instead of a party this time.”

Drat.

Not only did she want a birthday party, (ugh), she wanted to have it at freaking CHUCK E CHEESE!  My own personal hell on Earth!

But I love my daughter.

I’d have to, wouldn’t I? To be willing to do this for her?

Just look at that face! ^

And then look at THIS face!
Sort of makes it all worth it.  :)
(psssst, remember, the homemade cake I made on her actual birthday?  The one with the sprinkles?  I made two!  I had lots of sprinkles.  Still not sure where they came from or how long they’d been there...)

Happy 7th Birthday to my Jordy Roo!

On June 3rd, 2005 at 3:10pm, I watched Dr. Phil on the hospital television while I delivered a perfect baby girl.  Seven years later, I still think my girl is pretty perfect.  :)  Happy 7th birthday Jordan Emily!

We let her open her presents right after church.  Legos and Squinkys and Barbies and makeup!

You cannot stop this awesome sauce.

I do not believe in store bought cake.  Mostly because I love to eat the left over canned frosting after decorating my homemade cakes.  And by homemade I mean, out of a box.  And by decorating I mean adding sprinkles of unknown origin that I found in the back of my spice cabinet.

Aunt Raychel called just in time to join us in singing!

Visalus Update

It’s been a busy couple of weeks but I’m ready for my next Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge update.  I have now been on the challenge for 87 days.  Here are my results: On one shake per day and the vi-pak, I have lost 12 pounds.  It was my goal to lose 5.  I guess I don’t dream big enough?  My husband has about two weeks left on his first challenge and has lost over THIRTY POUNDS drinking two plain shakes per day and making good choices for dinner and snacks.

Another exciting aspect is that, as a promoter of the challenge, I have grown my team and customer base to the point where I qualified for my BMW bonus.  WHAT?!  No, seriously.  This happened.  Exactly 55 days after deciding I would try this promoter thing, I earned the car and am now considered a Regional Director at Visalus Sciences.

You know what is even crazier?  One of my team members, MY HUSBAND, earned his BMW bonus the same month as me, only 34 days from signing up as a promoter.  So now that we’ve got two bonuses in the family, we are seriously considering turning one of them into a car.  We’ll see.

A Redo of a Redo

So....remember that closet redo that I posted about a couple of weeks ago?  The update I did to my master closet that has been desperately needed for YEARS?  Well, about two weeks after that was finished, we decided to move our whole bedroom to a different floor of the house.  Working on THIS project now.

This is our bed, in what used to be the downstairs playroom.  Should be a fun project.

Goodbye Tonsils and Adenoids

Last month, Jordan had some space made in her little throat.  Evidently, she had ginormous tonsils.  She snored, she had sleep apnea, she couldn’t chew with her mouth closed and when she sat around watching TV, she would breath really loudly through her mouth and tick off everyone around her.

I’d suspected that tonsils where the culprit for quite some time.  But when she got strep throat earlier in the month, the doctor confirmed it when she looked in Jordy’s throat and said, “Whoa, does Jordan snore?”

So.  As soon as school ended for the year, we got those suckers outta there.

She wasn’t exactly sure what was about to happen.  In fact, she’d been looking forward to it for a couple of weeks because I told her she’d be eating ice cream for dinner...

And that’s why she looks so excited to be here.

I warned the staff of her tendency to faint at the slightest mention of blood, so they gave her a drink of “happy juice” and we waited for it to kick in by watching cartoons.

When the happy juice kicked in, it was hilarious.

Then she was wheeled into surgery....

And then it was over.

Grandma Diana and I were there with her when she woke up asking for popsicles.  Her throat was still numb by this point and she kept trying to clear it.  Which made me very light headed and ill.

Then it was time to go home.  Jordan hid behind her pillow while her IV was being taken out to avoid any faintage.  Then it was time to roll out.

A couple of hours later, Jordan already seemed back to her old self and was bouncing around the house playing.  Aside from her voice being a lot different, she seemed to be handling recovery just fine.

Then the next day came and she was pretty miserable all day.  Unfortunately, she had to come with me to work on a shirt job at the school.
It’s been about a month now and she appears to be fully recovered.  She’s able to eat anything she wants (she’s pretty sick of ice cream) and she’s off all of her medicines.

Her voice is very different and every time she drinks something, it comes out of her nose.
