JAM League is OVER

Our JAM League season ended this weekend with a reeeeally long day of basketball. We started at 10am with our first game of the day. Because the Clone Troopers were ranked #1 for the tournament, we played the first game of the day against the last place team. Needless to say, the score was pretty spread out. Every single player on our team made at least one basket, including Jake. He played his usual intense defensive game, fouled some people and scrapped on the floor for some jump balls. He brought the ball down court at one point during the game and while his team set some awesome screens for him (mostly unintentional, but still...) he dribbled straight for the basket and just as he was about to stop and shoot, he dribbled the ball off his own foot and it skittered out of bounds. The entire gym went, “AAAAWWWWW!!!!” Because everyone roots for the little guy.

The second game was a little tougher but we still won handily. The third game however...well, when you are used to being ahead by at least 10 after the first quarter and suddenly you find yourself in a situation where you haven’t even managed to score one basket by the end of the first quarter...let’s just say, it was too much to handle after a really long day and lots of basketball games.

We lost the championship game by 8 points (20-28). They were very sad but mostly really tired. So we had a party.

I found Clone Trooper masks at the party store

Each of our kids received a personalized trophy with their name and number, as well as a participation trophy from the league.

We got our head coach this super duper trophy. All the kids names were engraved on the back.

The Clone Troopers!!

The whole season was an awesome experience. It was exciting and hilarious to watch Jake’s progression from the first game where he ran back and forth as fast as he could but not much else, to becoming the scrappy little defensive champion that he was towards the end of the season. So proud of our little nugget. And so happy that he loves basketball!
