I was HACKED!

My email account was taken hostage today and everyone on my contact list received some spam from me. Please do not open it or click on any links in it. To top it all off, whatever hacked into my account also deleted all my contacts so I was unable to send out an apology email warning you not to open the bad one. Sorry everyone!

Josh's Festivities

Another amazing cake decorating job!

This is Joshy trying to blow out the candles. He actually got one out by himself and didn't put too much spit on the cake.

Obviously, everyone enjoyed it. It was chocolate after all.

Time for a bath.

PRESENTS!

ELMO!

Now he can defend himself when his big brother comes a-knockin'

I HATE MY NEW HELMET!

DUDE, check out my sweet ride. Too bad I can't ride it since I hate my new helmet. Oh, and since I can't pedal OR steer.

Another Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my sweet baby Doodimus!

Two years ago today, at 12:25pm, Joshy was born. He weighed 7 pounds eight ounces and was 20 inches long. Today he was over 26 pounds and is about 32 inches tall. For breakfast he had a "Waffo wit pee budder onit."

The goose egg on his head is courtesty of his big sister and a rousing game of jumping on the bed.

The In Between Day

Today is "The In Between Day" aka, the day between the boys' birthdays. Tomorrow we get festive for Joshy-Poo but today we played and played and ate the rest of Jake's cake to make room for Joshy's tomorrow.

I finally convinced (and by that I mean bribed) Jake to take the training wheels off the bike. In spite of the fact that he made his "scaredy" noises the whole time, he did awesome and never crashed.

And my little Doodimus is too stinkin' cute.

And this is Jordy saying cheese. It wasn't so much saying cheese as it was straining cheese. Still cute though. Sort of...

The Birthday

Today the big five year old boy got to spend time at Daddy's work, not have a nap, eat pizza for dinner, have chocolate cake AND open some cool presents. Have you ever seen a more excellent masterpiece of a cake decorationg job?

While Jake enjoyed eating his favorite chocolate cake, Jordan and Joshy chose to wear it.

Transformers!

Every Jedi needs a light saber.

A new bike to replace the one that was stolen this summer.

And because it had been so long, we were too scared to ride it without training wheels. Oh well.

Happy Birthday Beebs!

My Baby is FIVE!

Where did the time go?

It seems like only yesterday that I was holding a gooey, red, screaming bundle of joy at the hospital. Now he's five? FIVE? People told me it would go fast. Turns out they were right.

Five years ago today at 11:51am Jaycob Hawk Powers was born. He weighed 8lbs, 2oz and was 21 inches long. He was 8 days late.

Today he is about 35 pounds and a whole lot taller. Okay, not a WHOLE lot. He is stoked to be five.

Cubbie Girl

Jordy had her very first day of Cubbies this past Wednesday. She was SO excited to get a vest and bag. She was a little disappointed that she wasn't in Jakey's class. Jake is now in the older Cubbie class and Jordan is in MY Cubbie class. She was precious. When the other teacher was telling them the rules, she mentioned that nobody is allowed to pick their nose. Jordy said, "I picked my nose in the car!" So that was special.

Some Cuteness

So the other day Darrin decided to take Jake to work with him. The kindergarten teacher across the hall from the gym had mentioned that any time we wanted to send Jake to class to see how he would do, we could. So today we put him in dress code and sent him to school with Daddy. Except when they got to the parking lot, he started crying and saying he wasn't lucky to go to school. It worked in his favor though because the kindergarten class was on a field trip. So Jake did PE with Daddy all day.

This is just a shot of Jordy haning out. I think she looks older. And her hair is getting longer. Pretty girl.

And the Doodimus. He's getting so big and talking so well. I need to get him on video but I can't put my still camera down long enough to video. Just look at that sweet face! He kills me.

Gymnastics!

I finally remembered to bring the camera to gymnastics. This week was SO much better than past weeks. Both kids did really great and had fun. I mostly took pictures of Jake because he was right in front of me most of the time. And they told me to stop using the flash so then I really had a hard time getting anything but blurry pictures.

Here is Jake, ready to take on the rings.

He's ready for the Olympics! Of all the kids in his class, he was the only one who could support his own body weight without help. Stud!

But he needed a little help getting those legs up there.

Here is Jordy on the balance beam. She can now go across without help and she even went backwards without help this week. Last week when her teacher tried to make her go backwards, she crumpled on the floor and cried.

Jordy jumping down the trampoline. I'm pretty sure this is her favorite activity.

So that's gymnastics. I'm so relieved that things went well this week. It was great that Jake finally got to do some exciting things instead of pushups and situps for an hour.

Let's Rally!

(Warning: Excessive use of exclamation points coming. I know I'm normally anti-exclamation points thanks to a certain episode of Seinfeld, but this event excited me beyond the capacity to withstand the urge. So let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Today I had the very exciting opportunity to attend a McCain/Palin rally in Anchorage before our governor is whisked off onto the campaign trail until the election. The day actually started the night before as we were inundated with calls from associates hoping to have some last minute shirts made. So we set up shop in our living room and finally finished around midnight.

I woke up at 6am (I can't remember the last time I saw 6am) and met with the girls for coffee and shirt distribution. When we first made our way through security, someone asked if they could take a picture of our shirts. We agreed only if he would take one for us too...Side note: I saw a few of our shirts in attendence!

And we're in! We got there early enough to get really close. Excitement is building, only two more hours to wait. Ugh.

Things were kept lively (as lively as you might expect them to get at a republican gathering, ahem) by the Wasilla High School Pep Band and efforts by some to start some feeble chanting. We joined in a few rounds and then gave up with everyone else. WAY TOO EARLY IN THE MORNING.

The moment we'd all been waiting for! Our lovely governor and soon to be Vice President! She is so beautiful. Not that it's important but it's true. Her speech was so positive and uplifting. Such a refreshing change from the mud slinging that's happening in the campaigns. She talked about reform and we Alaskans know she's capable of that, holy moley. And she talked about McCain and what a great man and hero he is. She introduced her family and I cheered especially hard for Piper because she's my favorite! So precious!

Here is Willow and baby Trig. He slept through the whole thing. Such a republican!

I got to shake her hand and she signed my campaign poster which is currently sitting above my fireplace. I'm so proud of her!

She even smiled for a picture. Such a patient lady. What the crowd lacked in enthusiasum before the rally started, they made up for in over zealousness when it came time for meet and greet! I almost died! And look! There's my girl, Piper!

The "First Dude" Todd Palin. He also shook my hand and signed my poster. I just wish little Piper had a pen!

Proud conservatives! Loved every minute of it. Even the crazy people who tried to climb over us.

I think, given the chance, she is going to be such an awesome asset to this country. Those of us in Alaska know what she's capable of and we couldn't be prouder!

This is a Saturday

Taking advantage of the few Saturdays we have left before Darrin's weekends are full of basketball, this is how we roll. Add to this, a rousing game of hide and seek where eventually the kids hide and we "forget" to find them and you've got yourself a lovely little family Saturday.

Yay! Pictures!

We made it back to the fair on the very last day. We were blessed with less crowds and better weather than last weekend. My camera battery was dead, a fact I didn't realize until an hour before we left. Thankfully, Grandma had her camera and we were able to actually get pictures this time.

This is the family in front of our booth. We were in a hurry and this was the one and only shot we got. Jake's on the verge of tears and I'm telling Jordan to look at the camera.

This was Joshy's first fair ride ever. He LOVED it. He kept yelling "WHOA!" every two seconds even though the ride was barely moving. The other parents were cracking up.

You know we've got to ride the ponies! This is Josh and Cookie. "Ah Cookie!"

Jordan and Ninja. IF I ever get another pet, I'm totally naming it Ninja.

Jake and Little Red. Which tickled me because my first horse was Big Red.

In line for food. AGAIN.

Jake totally thought he could climb this wall no problem. Especially after he watched a three year old girl reach the top. This was as far as he made it.

Getting ready for the big slide.

aaand sliding.

Fun day, good food and some pictures. You're welcome.
