I’d suspected that tonsils where the culprit for quite some time. But when she got strep throat earlier in the month, the doctor confirmed it when she looked in Jordy’s throat and said, “Whoa, does Jordan snore?”
So. As soon as school ended for the year, we got those suckers outta there.
She wasn’t exactly sure what was about to happen. In fact, she’d been looking forward to it for a couple of weeks because I told her she’d be eating ice cream for dinner...
And that’s why she looks so excited to be here.
I warned the staff of her tendency to faint at the slightest mention of blood, so they gave her a drink of “happy juice” and we waited for it to kick in by watching cartoons.
When the happy juice kicked in, it was hilarious.
Then she was wheeled into surgery....
And then it was over.
Grandma Diana and I were there with her when she woke up asking for popsicles. Her throat was still numb by this point and she kept trying to clear it. Which made me very light headed and ill.
Then it was time to go home. Jordan hid behind her pillow while her IV was being taken out to avoid any faintage. Then it was time to roll out.
A couple of hours later, Jordan already seemed back to her old self and was bouncing around the house playing. Aside from her voice being a lot different, she seemed to be handling recovery just fine.
Then the next day came and she was pretty miserable all day. Unfortunately, she had to come with me to work on a shirt job at the school.
It’s been about a month now and she appears to be fully recovered. She’s able to eat anything she wants (she’s pretty sick of ice cream) and she’s off all of her medicines.
Her voice is very different and every time she drinks something, it comes out of her nose.
